The history of the Montgomery real estate market is longer than that of most modern Calgary neighbourhoods. In fact, it was known as Shouldice before the name was changed in 1943. The area was established as far back as 1911, and it was pretty much its own town until it was annexed by the City of Calgary in the early 1960’s. Despite its amalgamation with the big city, its culture is decidedly small-town, and it has maintained a steady population of less than 4,000 residents.
Home buyers who wish to live in Montgomery have numerous choices for single-family houses, although condominium units and townhomes are available as well. Since the neighbourhood has a long history, some Montgomery homes are older, while others are definitely 21st century in design and still, others are modern new constructions.
