Since 2002, the city has been revitalizing the area, developing in-fill homes and replacing many of the older structures. Killarney/Glengarry has a bilingual separate school and a public school. Proximity to major transportation routes makes for quick commutes to many parts of the city and a short drive to downtown. The LRT is also being extended in the south – west on 17th Avenue, to make transportation even more accessible. There are many parks and open spaces as well as shopping nearby, at Westbrook Mall, West Hills and shops along 17th Avenue.
